NIFT or National Institute of Fashion Technology in Mumbai, is one of the many branches that exist in India. It’s the best fashion institute you could enroll yourself in and you wouldn’t want to miss out on that. NIFT is basically known for its cross culture, the people that come in from different parts of the country aspiring to be designers.
Here are a few things that you probably need to know about NIFT.
The campus is situated on the outskirts of Mumbai, aka, Kharghar. It covers quite a lot of area as it also provides hostel accommodation for both, boys and girls. And to add to that, the buildings are designed in a really cool way and covered with awesome wall-paintings!
The college is self sufficient in itself. It has all the basic facilities within the campus walls so that the students don’t have to run out to get things, unless they require major shopping or stationary. Also, the hostel security is quite tight. Even if the students have any plans on sneaking out, they’ll make sure it isn’t possible!
Spectrum is NIFT’s biggest and most happening cultural fests. It involves all types of cultural events but the highlight of the fest is the fashion show that is held. The third year students are allowed to display whatever they’ve been working on and it gives them a lot of exposure since a lot of people from the fashion industry come in to judge.
The canteen is a boon to the campus. Students are often found hanging out here between their classes. They offer various types of foods and apparently, the fried rice served here is a must have. Probably too weird to be true, but EVERYONE in NIFT adores the nimbu paani served in their canteen.
Places to Hangout
Since they have strict deadlines at the hostel, the students are mostly found hanging around outside the college walls on weekends. They’re mostly found in local cafés around the area. A few others include Leopold cafe, Hugs and Mugs, Barista and The Belgian Waffle Company. Also, Central Park is 20 mins away from the campus. A lot of them also plan trips to the Kharghar hills during the weekends.Tags: assignments, campus, College, curfew, deadlines, designing, fashion, fun, Kharghar, NIFT, projects, strict
