Chemical Engineering is a profession that involves a great deal of understanding and a lot more creativity and imagination. It serves as a platform to discover something new about the nature of the world.

A Chemical fest is the defining moment of any institute. With that in mind, DJSCE IIChE along with Excel industries presents “ALChemE ’18” powered by Fragromatrix, Student Partner Frapp, and others. The theme for the event this year was “Chemical Engineering in the age of Information Technology”. ALChemE is a unique blend of competitions, hands on workshops and loads of interactive seminars, which will be held at Dwarkadas J.Sanghvi College of Engineering, Vile Parle, Mumbai.

The two day chemfest began on 23rd March and kick-starts with ChemE Talks by Mr. Alok Pandit, Director at Equinox software, emphasizing on the topic: ‘IT Applications in Chemical Engineering’ , highlighting the theme of our event. The next speaker is Mr. K Sahasranaman, ex-Vice President, UHDE India, Pune division, who will enlighten budding Chemical Engineers on the subject: ‘The effect of The Internet of things on Chemical Engineering’ .

The talks were followed by a comprehensive 3 hour hands on workshop on ‘COCO simulator’. This is accompanied by fun-filled activities, ‘DetectIon’ and ‘Mind Spark’.

Day 2 of the event began with the highly anticipated competitions – Technical Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Heat exchanger design (Swirl the Heat) and Cooling tower design. This is followed by yet another round of cracking ChemE Talks. The first speaker for the day is Mr. Jaswant Tawde, Group manager – Process Jacobs, guiding students on ‘How to ace a professional interview’. The next and final talk is by Dr. V Ramesh, HOD-Dept. of Chemical Engineering, DJSCE, on ‘The effect of Intelligence (A. I.) on Chemical engineering’ . The event culminates with prize distribution for the various competitions held.

All in all, ALChemE will raising the bar, provide an all round experience and provide exposure to what the future holds.
